Rise & Shining...

Probably for the first time since my jilleroo days I was up and about and saw the sunrise on Saturday! Very suprising considering I attended a Engagement party the night before and should have been horribly hungover... but instead found myself wide awake at 5am. (The fact that I awoke with a nasty cramp in my leg may have had something to do with it also....)

I looked out the bathroom window after washing my face and there was a breeze blowing and the sun was just peaking above the horizon so I thought you bueaty! and grabbed the Camera. This is what I saw...

Lately it has been really awful hot here but this morning it was 8 degrees cooler than previous mornings

There where also a pair of kingfishers in the neighbours tree.....

I went and checked on L to make sure he was still alive, but knew better than to try and take his photo!
Then I made myself a Cappicino (of the packet variety) and sat on the veranda to enjoy the cool breeze.

And that was my Saturday Morning!

Unfortunately than about lunchtime my hangover kicked into gear and it was all down hill from there...oh well it was still a nice morning....

Xmas time......

Well christmas time is upon us again... am soo not going to be organised in time, is definatley going to be last minute xmas shopping again this year!... Oh Well maybe next year.

Had a friend lend me a USB Stick with some new release movies on it to watch.....nothing suss of course..... but my computer must have a conceince! It wont let me watch them!

Have been entering into a amutuer photo comp on Facebook for Australian photos... the theme last week was native australian flora, I didn't do to well as I am just the newest member and they are entitled to pick on me, but one of the place getters had taken a photo of some Jacaranda Flowers.... not a native Australian plant... I didn't say anything but I did deduct a point from my total score which still gave it a 9/10 because it was a really nice image. Maybe I next time I might play dirty... maybe.

Hey were getting a new fence on one side! The house next door is a government house and they're puting up a colourbond fence!! yeah yeah!  People are asking what colour is it going to be....who cares! We get a free fence! It could be Orange and I wouldn't care (well a little) haha!

(My great grandad sitting right)

Attack of the GRASSHOPPERS!!!

Ok its been a while since I posted, but I have been busy renovating. See my shiny newly polished floor!!!
Pretty smick eh?

Today is my birthday but instead of out having drinks or a BBQ I am at home taking care of  L. Poor guy has a bad throat infection. It has stopped him from smoking this week, although this was probably the main reason for why a simple cold blossomed into him looking like a puffer fish. But I'm not angry with him, how could I be when he managed to croak Happy Birthday to me even though he was in pain!

I guess I should explain my title of this post... well it pretty much explains itself... you see thousands, and quite possibly millions of grasshoppers have taken over the town. The grass has been scalped and plants have been ring barked. You try walking across the lawn and its like an attack of minature Kamakazi plane...with LEGS! I can't hang any washing on the line because they poop all over it!  Short of getting a cropduster to do a couple of laps over the town, there is no way to get rid of them... well of course they will move on once every scrap & morsel of greenery is eaten, but it is really disheartening to wait and watch my garden get eaten.

This is a grasshopper

And here is another one

Here are a few more eating one of my plants

Just a few more eating my lawn

Well I got my new Camera & loving it!! I may not be the professional but I am certainately looking the part!

Ma's Cat "Simmy" was my first model. For quite a tubby cat he wasn't at all self consious about baring all!

Ok so maybe he was just too lazy to do anything about it so he just lay there and copped it sweet!

Inspirational

The talk of the week in OZ has been all about Jessica Watson. A 16 year old attempting the record of youngest person to sail solo around the world.  There has been alot critics around, but me personally really thinks that she can do it! As a 24 year old who has never traveled out of Australia, I really wish that I had the same motivation (and courage) that she has. Although we do have somewhat similar. I left home at age 16 to attend a Agricurtural College in central Queensland. Sure it was only 12 hours from home but for the first day, as soon as Mum & Dad drove away I spent hours crying....

Speaking of crying I watched "Marley & Me" Today. Now I knew it was a chick flick, but I also thought it was a comedy... sure the start made me laugh, but the last 1/2 hour had me blubbing like a baby. I was on the exibike while watching with a box of tissues. L was looking at me as if to say..."Not Again!" Yes I Do tend to start blubbering away in those soppy movies, still, I don't know why I still make myself go through with it???  I've lost count of how many times I have seen Forrest Gump but I'll still need the Kleenex when Jenny dies. Is there a sappy movie addicts anonomsys    (must buy myself a dictionary)   that a person can attend?  Will have to look into it!:)

Well thats about all my ramblings for today however, I'm sure I will think of something equally un-important as soon as I sign off......I didn't even have much to say to Mum tonight. Our usual hour talk was only about 15 minutes, we just could not think of anything new and exciting or anything noteworthy at all to talk about....

Well Until next time oxoxo Gorgie
